LPA applications on the increase again

The OPG annual report just published once again gives us insight into year on year increase in the numbers of powers of attorney on the Register. There are now some 6,850,834 an increase of 800,000 on last year's figure.  Registered powers of attorney have increased since 2018-19 by 3 million. What the statistics do not tell us are how many of these powers of attorney are 'active' and being used by the appointed attorneys. The increase has created a large backlog and a demand for a more rapid registration process which it is hoped will be resolved by the forthcoming Power of Attorney Act.
